For the first time in Nakano ward, foreign disaster prevention leaders have been selected. There are five leaders.
The Four are students studying Japanese at ANIC.
The first lecture for Foreign Disaster Prevention Leaders was held at the Nakano Ward Office on 3 August (Sat).
The course started with self-introductions, followed by a study of what to do in case of an earthquake. At the crossroads, the participants were told to think of answers to questions such as ‘You are an employee of Nakano Ward. There are 3,000 evacuees, but there are only 2,000 meals available. What would you do?’ Each of them put his or her opinions forwards like ‘Distribute to children and the elderly first.’ ‘Start distributing the food after discussing with all the evacuees.’ It was a very good time to face and discuss about the disaster prevention.
When a Nakano Ward employee asked the participants to talk to their neighbours when evacuating, they said there would be no problem as they daily interact with their neighbours.
They will cooperate with various disaster drills and events from now on as a ‘Foreign Disaster Prevention Leader’.
