The annual “Yusuzumi-kai”–– a gathering for enjoying cool breezes on a summer’s evening, was held at the Nakano Zero Hall on July 20th (Thursday).  There were over one hundred and thirty people who join to enjoy the event.

Wearing Yukata kimonos, some have arrived earlier than the scheduled time.  Seventy-nine, worn with Yukata, enjoyed kakigoori (shaved ice)– which was prepared by the Friday Volunteers’ Group.  This was in addition to a bowling game and Bozu-mekuri (a Japanese card game) by the Meiji University, Yo-yo fishing, Super-ball Scooping, Tamaire (a ball-toss game), Japanese quoit.

Izumi Masaaya, the instructor of the Izumi School of Japanese Dance, performed and also solicited some onlookers to experience the dance directly.  Although it was for foreign participants, and it was their first experience with Japanese dancing, they seemed to have enjoyed the dancing greatly –- which is owed to her courteous instruction.

The participants and volunteers had gathered in various parts of the place and enjoyed the conversation.  It is really the case that the Japanese festival is also a great place for socialization.DSCN9214 P1060335 P1060345
