Altogether 20 people including Fifteen high school and university students from Thailand and staff involved who came to Japan as part of JENESYS, an exchange programme by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote understanding between Japan and Thailand came to observe our Japanese language class.
In the programme they would learn about ‘agriculture’ through lectures and visits to the places. Agriculture is one of the major industries in Thailand, and they will learn about similarities and differences with Japan, and also think about strengthening relations in agriculture between the two countries in the future, and as the visiting group were also Japanese language learners, they came to observe a Japanese language class.
The Thai students asked many questions. They asked the Japanese teaching volunteers about the difficulties they face when teaching, as they would like to be a teacher. They also asked what kind of volunteer teachers the class had?
To the Japanese language learners in the class, many questions were asked related to their own future, such as why foreigners study Japanese.
Thai educators asked where learners stumble in learning Japanese and why they start with hiragana. If learners have mastered katakana, probably Hirakana isn’t necessary? They asked questions that they had been thinking on a regular basis.
We heard that after this visit they were going to Shizuoka City for homestay. We hope that they will try to use Japanese a lot and interact with each other.
We will look forward to seeing the students with their great work using Japanese in the future.
