Aiming to connect people in the Saginomiya area, the Nakano Ward Social Welfare Council, NPO HATI JAPAN and the Nakano Ward Association for Nakano International Communications (ANIC) have worked together to create various oppotunities.
On the 1st of July (Mon), to celebrate its second anniversary, the Saginomiya Sukoyaka Welfare Centre, Kamisaginomiya Community Comprehensive Support Centre and Caremane Ondo Popularisation Society cooperated to hold a “Summer Festival!” at the Saginomiya West Housing Community Hall.
On the day, broadcast information was given in Japanese, English, Nepali and Chinese, and many Chinese and Nepali families participated. At the booth of “Saginomiya Japanese Class” of the Association for Nakano International Communications (ANIC), Japanese language volunteers made the hoopla game and fan-making activities more exciting.
The most exciting events at the summer festival were the Care Mane Ondo and Nepalese dance. The Care Mane Ondo was danced with the children who tried as they saw fit, and the lion dance was performed to the delight of the small children. The Nepalese dance was performed by junior high school students studying Japanese at ANIC, dressed in national costumes. The dance crossed borders and was enjoyed by all.
Around 160 people took part in the “Summer Festival!” People from the Saginomiya area were able to connect with each other in a different way from their usual activities.
