We participated in the 3rd Saginomiya Karuta Tournament
On Sunday the 28 July, the 3rd Saginomiya Karuta Tournament was held in the gymnasium of the former Saginomiya Elementary School.
Chinese parents and children from the Saginomiya Japanese Language School took part in the free matches.
They won both their first and second games, but lost the last game by one point and they were not qualified for the final tournament.
They had only been in Japan for about a year, but they listened to Japanese properly and did their best.
Their feedback was: “It was a lot of fun.” “I want to participate again next year.”
We are planning to introduce karuta games in the Japanese language classes as it is a way of learning Japanese while playing and we would like to participate again next year at the Saginomiya Japanese Language Class.
