An international sports exchange ‘table tennis’ was held.
On Saturday the 19th of October, participants enjoyed ‘table tennis’ at the Momozono District Citizens’ Activity Centre.
There were 37 participants. Foreigners from China, France, Sweden, Togo, Russia, Kenya and Taiwan took part.
Ms Toshiko Oyaizu, a certified coach of the Tokyo Sports Association, a director of the Tokyo Sports Leaders’ Council and an ANIC Japanese language volunteer, was the instructor for the beginners. They were divided into beginners and experienced players and each group played in tournament matches. The final match for beginners was between Sweden and Kenya. Both players played seriously and the winner was from Sweden. The experienced players match were held between two Chinese players. At the end, the Swedish player was asked, ‘Would you like to play against an experienced player?’ He replied, ‘Yes. I’d like to, please,’ and he played. The overall winner was the Chinese. The Togolese said, ‘I would like to continue to practise table tennis.’ ‘I had a lot of fun.’.
