Information session on entering high school was held
On the 3rd of November (national holiday), an information session on high school admission for parents and children whose mother tongue is a foreign language was held jointly with the NPO Support Kids Japan.
About 40 parents and children from China and Nepal gathered, and we explained in ‘Easy Japanese’ the structure of metropolitan high schools, metropolitan high schools with quotas for foreigners living in Tokyo, confirmation of pre-application qualifications to take the quota for foreigners living in Tokyo and special measures for general entrance examinations for metropolitan high schools.
In addition, the vice-principal of Tokyo Metropolitan Nakano Technical High evening school was invited to talk about the classes and career and employment opportunities after graduation. The talk by the actual high school teacher was very interesting, and the participants listened attentively, especially about employment and job opportunities.
From this year, pre-application eligibility checks are only by appointment. Making an appointment online is not an easy task for parents and children from other countries. We will provide support as necessary to ensure a successful entry to the school.
