On 8 March (Sat), “the 8th Nakano International Exchange FESTA – Meet Servia” was held at the Small Hall in the Nakano ZERO West Wing.
The opening event was Nepalese dance by Japanese language learners. Elementary and junior high school students were able to show the results of their practice in front of the audience.
This was followed by an address by Ms. Marija Perisig, First Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, and a talk event by Ms. Tijana Nagato, Secretary of the Ambassador, introducing the Republic of Serbia. The participants were able to learn a wide range of information about Serbia, including where the Republic of Serbia is located, the Serbian language, famous people from Serbia, delicious food, and the country’s links with Japan.
Next, pianist Ms. Rika Fukuda, representative of the Japan Branch of the International Union of Piano Teachers (WPTA JAPAN), and pianist Ms. Sumire Katuki, winner of the Serbian Ambassador’s Encouragement Award, gave a piano performance of a Serbian dance piece. Everyone listened to the unique melodies, which were different from those of Western classical music.
The final event was Japanese speeches by Japanese language learners: two primary school students and six adults gave speeches about their thoughts and feelings, on what they like, what they have been doing since they came to Japan, and about their lives.
Seven shops and four exhibitions were opened in the lobby, selling Serbian wines, sweets and sundries from around the world.
We would like to thank all the performers, stall holders and volunteers for their cooperation and visitors coming in the cold weather.
