On Feb 6th (SAT), the New Year Gathering was held at the NAKANO ZERO west building. The weather was just perfect and many visitors came. Naturally, the most popular attraction was the kimono wearing event where 93 foreigners had a special chance to wear some beautifully crafted kimonos as they posed for pictures.

This year, thanks to members of the Minamiguchi town assembly, a mochi pounding event was able to take place. Visitors had a special chance to not just witness this traditional way of Matcha making, but to also participate in it as well. Though the special Koto and Shakuhachi concert by the Nakano Traditional Music Assembly was beautiful, many also enjoyed the hands on experience of mochi making. Many foreigners put their arms to work while listening to beautiful music.

Many foreign visitors also enjoyed the traditional games that the students of the Toa Gakuen High School and Meiji University GJS Student Committee displayed for them.
